Beauty Resolutions for 2014

  1. I'm going to make an effort to wear lipstick.  My lipstick collection has finally surpassed my lip gloss collection in sheer volume, so no excuses for not wearing a lip colour!

  2. Use up samples!  Most people have a sample box.  I have a sample desk organizer. Maybe I should threaten myself with a no-buy period?

  3. Wear bright blush.  There is nothing quite like a hot pink or orange-red to brighten up your flush in the winter.

  4. I'm not sure when this started, but recently (ahem, the last six months) I've been terrible at taking off my makeup before going to bed.   I've decided that I can't get into bed until I at least do a once-over with Bioderma and Shiseido cotton.  I've also been testing a cleanser that makes me want to skip Bioderma so stay tuned.

  5. Sleep.  Water.  I'm on the hunt for a water carafe and a pillow spray.  Suggestions welcome.

  1. Ooh, I like the idea of wearing bright blushes. I always go to my nude pinks! I think I'll give your resolution a go myself!

    1. Yes! It is the best way to brighten up a dark, snowy day!

  2. Hello and Happy New year :)
I tend to have a lot of skincare samples which I can't use because of the ingredients, so they just sit there and occasionally I'll give a load to my mum, though I am sure she just stuffs them in a drawer somewhere :)

    1. Happy New Year Clare! I foist samples upon house guests -- literally not a single person will leave my house without products on their face or in their handbags.

  3. WEAR YOUR LIPSTICKS, woman! I have a Brita water filter and I sometimes put a few drops of lavender essential oil on my pillow. Hope it helps ;) PS: happy new year!

    1. Happy New Year Sunny! I've been secretly lusting after the Soma water filter but...that seems extravagant for an office water supply. Then again...I spend most of my time there...#selfenabler

  5. Gotta agree with the lipstick one! I've got ~30 too many that I don't wear enough. Some people use rotations and stick to a select few lipsticks for a week...maybe that'll help? :)

    1. I tried that for a bit, but I sadly failed my #kissonthelips daily lipstick challenge.Maybe every day was too much of a commitment, I'll do a weekly lipstick roundup and see how it goes!

    1. Ah yes, girl after my own heart. I knew you wouldn't judge me! Do you remember the NARS brush set that came out a couple of Christmases ago? I have one of those filled. I'm starting to use ridiculously priced moisturizers on my legs just so they empty faster.

  7. oh...your blush picks just made me drool! And I'm in the same boat as you. Trying to use up my samples. I kept waiting to see if I could get a few more of the same kinds through my sephora orders, but they go oos so quickly. So better use them before the expire or something >_<

    1. I feel like I hoard samples for a while and never get around to them. I'm really afraid of the same thing happening with newspapers or balls of yarn or something.

  8. LOL haha I need to use samples too. BUT I get so scared they'll eff up my skin, ya know? UGGH.

    1. I know, it gets really scary! I think a stand-by cleanser is the key to trial. I always go back to Lancome Creme Radiance, although I think I may be replacing it with something else soon. Stay tuned ;-)

    1. Thanks! I sadly have yet to stick to my resolution. I'm starting again tomorrow with Le Metier de Beaute!

  10. Happy New Year!!! Those resolutions sound pretty good to me - good luck! I keep wanting to buy more lip colours when I clearly don't use them often enough to justify it (I never wear anything other than lip balm to work, maybe even tinted lip balm). Also, a cleanser that beats Bioderma?? I anxiously await the reveal!

    1. Happy new year to you! I'm so excited to commit to at least one of them haha. I'll talk about the new cleanser in my skincare routine!

  11. I've had the same habit of filling up drawers of samples but I'm slowly getting through them :) I just got a Clarisonic so that's given me even more of a reason to want to try different products with it!

    1. How are you liking it so far?? I haven't used my Clarisonic in ages, but I'm feeling the urge to break it out again!

  12. I agree with one and two! My sample drawer gets stuck when I open it and then try to close it again. And I have so many lipsticks (many the same colour) that I really should start using them all up.

    1. I have the exact same problem with...everything. I can't even tell you how many mid-tone grey-ish brown eye shadows I have, it's embarrassing.

  13. That's quite a lipstick collection!

I went through a phase where I was bad about taking makeup off before bed too, but nowadays my skin seems to react really badly whenever I forget. In fact, I'm almost guaranteed a blemish and puffy eyes if I do. :( Cleansing wipes are a lifesaver.

    1. So does mine! I think in university it bounced back a little better, but I always wake up feeling so gross when I sleep in my makeup. And my skin knows it too, it always breaks out the next day when I do that.
